A 16-step drum machine that runs entirely in your browser. Each of the four channels plays whichever drum you pick from its drop-down (a full kit, bells, shakers and tambourine, hand drums such as bongo, conga, djembe and darbuka, or tabla and taiko), or start from one of the presets, from rock and disco to bossa nova, son clave, West African bell patterns, Egyptian darbuka rhythms and Hindustani tabla thekas. Below the grid, Drum settings lets you tune each drum's pitch, decay, tone and level. Click a cell to turn a step on, click again for an accent, and once more to turn it off. Each row also has a Euclidean rhythm generator: Hits are spread as evenly as possible over Steps, Rotate shifts the start, and the circle shows the result (step 1 at the top, going clockwise, with the hits joined into a shape). Rows can have different lengths, so they drift against each other. The drums are synthesized with the Web Audio API, so there are no sample files to load. If you have a MIDI drum module or synth connected, choose it as the output and the same pattern plays on that instead (General MIDI percussion, channel 10).

◦ uses sounds General MIDI lacks; if you play through MIDI, set their notes under Drum settings.
Drum settings

Fine-tune each drum. These belong to the drum, so they follow it to whichever channel you assign it to. Tune, Decay and Tone shape the built-in synth; Level also scales the velocity sent to a MIDI device. The MIDI note is what a connected device plays for this drum: every drum starts on its own note, and the badge shows how well General MIDI covers it (GM the instrument exists, ≈GM GM's nearest instrument, no GM nothing like it, so a nearby note is borrowed). Set any note to match your own synth's kit. Your settings are remembered in this browser.
